Is Supporter Membership the perfect match for your business?

Following the recent announcement of Persimmon Homes joining FASET as the inaugural Supporter Member in October 2023, FASET is urging contractors to apply for Supporter Membership to showcase their commitment to promoting safe working practices in the safety netting, platform decking and temporary safety systems industry.

After a 6-month collaborative development period with FASET, Persimmon Homes introduced an initiative to enhance platform decking system safety across all its sites. Presently, all site management personnel undergo FASET Platform Decking System For Managers training, confirming their competence in managing the safe use of platform decking systems during traditional and timber frame house construction.

Starting January 1, 2024, all operatives installing platform decking systems on Persimmon Homes sites must possess the FASET Installer’s qualification, evidenced by a Blue Skilled FASET CSCS Card.

Group Health, Safety & Environment Director, Abigail Bainbridge commented:

“We at Persimmon Homes are delighted to be recognised by FASET for our endeavours to make our sites safer. We recognise the benefits of specifying FASET on our sites. By specifying FASET training, FASET CSCS Cards and FASET SSiP Certificates, our sites will become safer and more efficient places to work. I would like to thank FASET for their assistance in making this happen.”

Barry Gorman CMIOSH, Persimmon Homes Group Health and Safety Manager, added,

“We are one of the first large house building companies in the industry, that insist that our Safety Decking installers hold a FASET CSCS card. Persimmon Homes are proud to be leading the way with bespoke safety decking inspection training for our site management, that is FASET accredited.

Since 1972, Persimmon Homes has been establishing new communities across Britain, employing over 5,000 people. It is one of the top 100 apprenticeship providers in the country and is rated five-star by the Home Builders Federation.

The Value of FASET Supporter Membership

Becoming a Supporter Member not only affirms your dedication to fostering secure working practices within the safety netting and temporary safety systems sector but also emphasises your organisation's requirement of FASET certification.

By aligning with FASET, you communicate to partners and stakeholders that your organsation upholds the highest safety standards. Supporter Members gain exclusive access to FASET meetings, including the AGM, fostering an open forum for the exchange of experiences within the construction industry.

Furthermore, as an SSIP Forum member, FASET ensures that its training, guidance, and working practices align with the health and safety core assessment criteria. This compliance is acknowledged by the HSE and is consistent with the health and safety Module in PAS 91 and Section 4 of the Common Assessment Standard.

While Supporter Members do not possess voting rights, their participation is instrumental in shaping future guidance, ensuring the continuous relevance and effectiveness of the association for all stakeholders.

Supporter Membership comes at no cost but also offers additional visibility. Upon certification, Supporter Members are actively promoted across various FASET outlets.

Commenting on Persimmon Homes' recent Supporter Membership certification, FASET Managing Director, Tony Seddon, said:

“The FASET Board and I felt that the recognition of FASET’s values and the benefits it brings in these initiatives should be celebrated. We felt that it was right to invite Persimmon Homes to be our first Supporter Member and are delighted that they have accepted.”

“We are aware that a number of other contractors have similar requirements, and we would welcome them to come forward and receive the recognition that Persimmon has. All they need to do is get in touch and tell us what they do using the FASET Brand to make their sites safer."
