The Construction Leadership Council’s taskforce continues to unite the industry to face emerging challenges and opportunities for industry transformation as it reached its second birthday today (23 March 2022).
The Taskforce, which brings together representatives from organisations across construction, was formed on 23 March 2020 as a response to the emerging threat from Covid-19. It was instrumental in the sector’s response to Covid, leading the way with the development of Site Operating Procedures to safeguard the workforce, while also developing a recovery plan for the sector that meant construction was one of the sectors to bounce back fastest from the crisis.
The taskforce has since widened its scope to address other issues, heading up industry representation at COP26 last year with its CO2nstruct Zero campaign, and tackling issues related to product availability. Its 184th meeting this week responded to the Ukraine conflict and the severe impacts that this is having on construction. CLC Co-chair Andy Mitchell said:
“From a standing start in the most challenging of circumstances, the CLC taskforce has proved itself time and again, bringing the industry together to work collaboratively on the sector’s big issues. I would like to thank everyone who has given their time to support the group over the last two years, and look forward to it continuing to lead the way in the future”.
