What is the new FASET CSCS card?

What is the new FASET CSCS card?

FASET has teamed up with CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme), the leading card scheme for the UK construction industry.

This means FASET now issues cards which display the CSCS logo, for the temporary safety systems industry.

By ensuring the workforce are appropriately qualified, the FASET card will play its part in improving standards and safety on UK construction sites.

It is the responsibility of the duty manager on any construction site to ensure that each individual is qualified to carry out his or her work safely. Why do we only have a virtual card?

Why do we only have a virtual card?

Following the introduction of the FASET partner scheme, the only way to gain a card displaying the CSCS logo in disciplines that FASET covers is via the partner scheme and this has moved to virtual card issue only.

There are several reasons for this:

  • The card can now have expiry dates for the card itself, and all qualifications shown on it individually; therefore, you do not lose any of the life of a qualification. Qualifications can also be added in the middle of the card’s life, without having to re-issue, and this is currently done free of charge.
  • The virtual card is also less vulnerable to fraud and forgery, it is instantly updated and extremely quickly made available to the individuals.
  • The card itself cannot be lost or damaged. The employer has one simple dashboard for all FASET Scheme cards.
  • The digital system allows messages to be sent to card holders advising them of upcoming expiry dates, safety alerts, card changes etc.
  • CSCS themselves are moving to phase out plastic cards.

The card is easily and securely checked via the GoSmart website: https://cardcheck.gosmart.co.uk or App. Card reads are retained within the App, so the person reading the card retains a record of the card they have scanned and the details on the card. You are also able to print to PDF from the GoSmart website in order to retain a copy of the cards. These PDFs can form part of any submission to sites/pre-qual applications.

HOW DO I READ THE VIRTUAL CARD?

HOW DO I READ THE VIRTUAL CARD?

Once the card application has been verified and approved, the applicant will receive a text invitation from Vircada to download the app. They are then able to access their Digital card.

The GoSmart website has a facility for you to print or “print to pdf” a PDF copy of your operative’s card/record. There is also a downloadable app which can read cards from the operative’s mobile phone. Follow this link to the GoSmart website for full details on the available app and functions within it. https://gosmart.co.uk/Getting-Started

You’ll also see this icon at the top right-hand side of their webpage:

This allows you to check a card. All you do is change the scheme to choose the FASET Partner scheme and include the new FASET card number and surname of your operative. It will then bring up the record which you can print or print to pdf.
