The FASET Stair Tower Course brings together the key elements of an access stair tower. It is a training and assessment programme covering all types of access stair tower generically, and works closely alongside the manufacturers instruction manual (MIM).
Following training and subsequently having successfully completed the assessment, the operative may apply to FASET for a Stair Tower Installer endorsement to their FASET Blue Skilled Worker card. (All FASET Cards carry the CSCS logo)
Once this course has been completed and where required, operatives should seek to gain product specific knowledge to understand the safe use of any individual components which may differ to that covered in the practical aspect of the training course.
Manufacturers guidance will make reference to tying the stair tower to a robust primary structure, but does not publish specific detail. FASET has developed a Temporary Works design that covers the majority of stair tower tying in applications. Those attending the FASET Access Stair Tower course are trained and assessed on this. Once an individual has passed the assessment, FASET considers that they are competent in the erection of Access Stair Towers and this includes tying in.
Due to this specific training, It is not necessary to employ a scaffolder to carry out this function.
The endorsement/card has a life of 5 years and can be renewed by re-taking the course and the GSA-3 assessment.
