Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme Ends This Week

As Tweeted by Build UK, the leading representative organisation for the UK construction industry, the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme ends this week, after 18 months. Claims for September must be made by 11:59pm on 14th October, with any amendments submitted by 28th October.

Since March 2020, if a person’s employer has less or no work for them because of coronavirus, that employer has been able to apply for a Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme grant to help them carry on paying their wages. This was also known as being put ‘on furlough’, which guarantees employees received at least 80% of their usual pay.

Other government initiatives to help people during the coronavirus pandemic include New Style Jobseeker’s Allowance, Universal Credit and Pension Credit.
