Safety Nets used in the UK are either of a ‘Knotless or Knotted’ configuration and must conform to BS EN 1263-1. These nets may be damaged by sharp objects, abrasion or exposure to heat.
Border Rope Repairs: any Border Rope repair must be made using a rope with a minimum of 30kN breaking strain. Rope Repairs must be either ‘spliced or machine sewn and must not be knotted together.
Repairs Adjacent to Selvedge: if the selvedge of the net is damaged, then the perimeter edge of the net must be strengthened.
Damaged Tie Ropes: any damaged to rope ties that may affect the integrity of the tie must be withdrawn from service.
‘C’ Ring Repair: there are systems available on the market using stainless steel ‘c’ rings, that have been tested and have been proven to be fit for purpose. Checks must be made with FASET to ensure that specific systems are acceptable for use.
