International Scaffolding and Access Day launched to recognise industry professionals

A new global industry day has been launched to celebrate the vital role of scaffolding and access professionals in construction and infrastructure projects around the world.

The International Access & Scaffolding Association has announced the creation of International Scaffolding and Access Day, which will be marked annually on 14 May. The initiative aims to recognise the skill, professionalism and dedication of those working across the scaffolding and access sector.

For the inaugural year, the theme of the day is “Recognising the industry. Supporting its people. Shaping its future.” The event is intended to highlight the essential role the sector plays in construction, infrastructure, safety and economic development while also drawing attention to the challenges and opportunities facing the industry.

Five key priorities have been identified as central to the future of the industry:

  • Improving the image of scaffolding by promoting professionalism, safety and pride in the sector

  • Developing global talent and attracting the next generation of skilled workers

  • Driving innovation through new technologies and safer systems of work

  • Strengthening compliance to protect workers, clients and the public

  • Standardising training to improve competence and consistency worldwide

The day is designed to be an inclusive initiative, bringing together contractors, manufacturers, educators, trade bodies and workers across the global scaffolding and access community. Organisations are encouraged to mark the day by sharing stories, images and messages that celebrate the people and projects that keep construction sites safe.

For organisations involved in work at height, including members of FASET and its affiliated bodies such as National Access and Scaffolding Confederation, the day provides an opportunity to highlight the importance of safe systems of work, high-quality training and the professionalism of those working at height.

By recognising the contribution of scaffolding and access specialists worldwide, International Scaffolding and Access Day aims to strengthen industry standards, inspire future talent and reinforce the importance of safety across the sector.
