Housebuilder Persimmon Homes, a Supporter Member of FASET, has integrated the CSCS Smart Check API into its Persimmon Way App to automate and strengthen workforce card checks across its construction sites.
The integration allows site teams to digitally verify workers’ competency cards in real time, ensuring individuals hold the appropriate qualifications and training required for the work they undertake.
Previously, site managers often relied on manual processes such as photographing, photocopying and filing cards across multiple systems. These fragmented checks could be time-consuming and did not always provide immediate confirmation that a worker’s card was valid or current.
By embedding Smart Check directly into the Persimmon Way App – already widely used across Persimmon developments for site sign-ins – workers can scan a QR code when arriving on site. The system then automatically verifies the card against live data from across the CSCS Alliance, confirming that it is valid and appropriate for the role.
The digital system helps site managers identify expired, revoked or fraudulent cards and reduces administrative workload, allowing teams to focus more time on managing construction activities safely and efficiently.
Supporting competence and safety on site
Smart Check verifies all cards carrying the CSCS logo, providing a secure way for contractors and employers to confirm that individuals hold the correct training and qualifications for the work they perform.
FASET is proud to be part of the CSCS Alliance, issuing the FASET CSCS Card, which enables operatives in the temporary safety systems sector to demonstrate they have achieved the appropriate qualifications and training required for their roles.
As a trade association representing the safety netting and temporary safety systems industry, FASET works closely with contractors and housebuilders to help ensure that installation work is carried out by competent, trained professionals.
Strengthening industry partnerships
Persimmon Homes has been a FASET Supporter Member since 2023 and has worked closely with the association to improve safety practices on its sites. The company requires operatives installing platform decking systems to hold the Blue Skilled FASET CSCS Card, ensuring they have completed the recognised training and assessment required for the role.
The integration of Smart Check technology aligns with this commitment by helping ensure that workers across Persimmon sites hold the correct competency cards and qualifications, supporting safer and more efficient construction projects.
