Introducing Clive Dickin – NASC’s new CEO

The National Access & Scaffolding Confederation (NASC) has appointed Clive Dickin as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

Clive is a highly experienced trade body leader and has worked for more than 25 years as a senior leadership figure within the membership trade association sector – specialising in understanding the needs of membership bodies, ensuring they thrive and grow. He has repeatedly moved organisations to new heights of performance and delivery – and is now shifting his extensive experience and business focus to the NASC.

Clive’s career started within the b2b sales environment working with Monty Python/Fawlty Towers star, John Cleese at the renowned training film company Video Arts.

He then spent over a decade working within the plant tool and building services sectors representative membership bodies as a CEO, leaving for a period to follow a passion for aviation, leading the air ambulances as their National Director.

More recently, Clive has been heavily involved in the construction industry – as Commercial Director for the National Federation of Builders – so brings a deep understanding of the sector to his role at the NASC.

Clive’s plans for the UK’s most respected scaffolding trade body include highlighting the support available to the membership – of all levels within the scaffolding sector – offering the best support for those who wish to become NASC members, promoting the independently vetted, high quality industry approved standards NASC sets, and boosting membership levels.

Speaking about his new role, NASC CEO, Clive Dickin said: “I am very excited to get the opportunity to take charge of the NASC – a superbly well-established, highly respected organisation that’s transparent, open, friendly and is “here to help” people build a successful scaffolding business, based on high quality, industry respected assurance standards.

“I am keen to start building the story of how people can – and should – join the NASC, and prove it’s a progressive, open and supportive membership, that can truly aid scaffolding and access contractors. The NASC is a modern, forward thinking trade body that is here to help all businesses within the scaffolding and access sector with its recognised independently vetted standards that reduce risk and gain more business for members.  We are here to help contracting businesses and will be offering the most prompt assistance, guidance and backing – to ensure scaffolding and access members grow and improve their businesses. It’s exciting times ahead…”

NASC President, David Brown, of IBN Scaffold Access Ltd said: “We are excited to warmly welcome Clive to the NASC. Clive’s experience and personality shone through during the recruitment process. With Clive’s excellent leadership abilities, the NASC is going to be in safe hands as we move forward. Meanwhile, out-going acting NASC Managing Director, Dave Mosley added: “Clive really impressed the board during the interview process with his understanding of NASC’s current position – identifying areas where there is room for improvement and how he plans to move the organisation forward. We are all looking forward to him coming on board and kick starting a new era in the NASC’s illustrious history.”

Mr. Dickin’s appointment means acting NASC Managing Director, Dave Mosley will return to his role as Managing Director of the Construction Industry Scaffolders Record Scheme (CISRS) and NASC Director of Training.
