FASET runs the next ‘Platform Decking for Managers’ course with GDECK

FASET – the established trade association and training body for the safety netting and temporary safety systems industry – was delighted to run the latest in its planned programme of Platform Decking for Managers courses yesterday (24th May 2023) with Persimmon Homes.

Persimmon Homes, headquartered in York, is one of the UK’s leading housebuilding companies. It identified the need to formalise the training of its site management and safety teams in order to manage the installation and safe use of platform decking systems on their housebuilding site throughout the UK.

Persimmon Homes is also leading the way in requiring all installers of platform decking to hold FASET CSCS Blue cards for installing on their sites from the start of next year. They are also looking for installation companies to hold the FASET SSiP certificate to demonstrate corporate competence.

Yesterday’s course was delivered by Dave Stanyer-Groves at GDECK. A member of FASET, GDECK creates revolutionary load deck systems to reach elevated sites easily and safely.

The previous Platform Decking for Managers courses in this programme were hosted at G&M Safe Deck, based in Middlewich (Cheshire), Trad Hire and Sales Ltd, Newcastle upon Tyne (via their training partner Michael Allan of Work at Height Safety Solutions), and Swale Scaffolding based in Richmond (N Yorkshire). Earlier this month, G&M Safe Deck also hosted a course from Wain Homes, Morris Homes Ltd and TJM Construction.

The roll-out continues next month at Jmac Safety Systems, based in Stockton on Tees, with further courses being planned all over the UK in the coming weeks and months.
