EU Exit Business Readiness: Final Checklist

The Construction Leadership Council (CLC) has published a final checklist for construction businesses ahead of the end of the transition period within the EU.

This one page checklist summarises the key changes that UK construction businesses will face at the end of the transition period, whether or not a trade deal is secured with the European Union. See the checklist here.

  • People
  • Goods and Materials
  • Standards and Alignment
  • Contracts
  • Procurement
  • Data
  • Tax implications of doing business in the EU

It includes quick-reference information and links to all the EU Exit Business Readiness publications that the CLC has produced, as well as additional useful information from GOV.UK including specific links to BEIS and HMRC. Topics covered include people, goods and materials, standards and alignment, contracts, procurement, data and tax implications.

The guidance has been issued by CLC BREXIT Working Group and comprises the sixth publication in a suite of business readiness advice that the group has published ahead of 31 December 2020.

The checklist is important to all employers within construction, including those who work at height using safety netting and temporary safety systems. FASET (Fall Arrest Safety Equipment Training) is the established trade association and training body for this industry sector. It has long been a foundation in supporting its members with expert quality guidance, dedicated working at height training and exclusive membership benefit schemes all with the intention of promoting a safer way of working.

2020 has been an unprecedented year, with Brexit and the coronavirus casting all kinds of uncertainty on construction, as well as virtually every other sector. We remain resolute in our aim to provide support for our members, driving up safety standards and reducing accidents at height.
