Incorrect Support Clamps
We have noted the practice of using single scaffold girder couplers, or parts of them, to attach safety nets to the bottom flange of beams particularly in the metal decking application. Scaffold girder couplers are designed to be used in pairs, clamping a scaffold tube to both sides of a steel flange. They are not designed for use as shown and they cannot be regarded, in this case, as offering a satisfactory attachment point for a safety net.

This practice is condemned as unsuitable by FASET and we wish to draw this problem to the attention of all who have responsibility for the inspection of rigged safety nets.
