New Information Pack from Trade Body FASET

FASET has published a new information pack containing the latest information on safety nets, training and the CSCS safety net rigger card.

A collective protection system that is increasingly specified on sites both large and small, safety nets are used to save lives and reduce injuries on site by absorbing energy from a falling body. As such they are subject to stringent inspection and maintenance routines.

The pack highlights the principal criteria for safety nets, explains what standards apply, and describes the benefits of specifying a FASET member. These are companies that undergo a rigorous audit to demonstrate their competence.

A separate section explains the various training routes available to qualify for the FASET CSCS safety net rigger card. The card is recognised and respected as the industry standard.

Comments Tony Seddon, secretary of the association: "This new pack is a valuable addition to the body of knowledge already available and will provide useful guidance to both existing and prospective users of safety nets."

A member of the Access Industry Forum (AIF) and the National Specialist Contractors Council (NSCC), FASET works closely with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and is helping to secure a safer, more professional and competent approach to working at height.
